Khajuraho Khajuraho (Hindi: खजुराहो) is a town of Madhya Pradesh in India with a population census of 2001 of 7665 inhabitants, in July 2008 according to official population had exceeded ten thousand inhabitants (1,242 inhabitants in 1901). Notable for its collection of temples World Heritage Site in 1986, in which there are several erotic sculptures. The name derives from kajur which means "date palm".

History
is first mentioned in the story of the Buddhist pilgrim Hiuen Tsiang who visited the court of the kingdom called Chi-ki-to (Jijhoti). There were Buddhist temples at that time but recently it remains a colossal statue of Buddha in the eighth or seventh century. It was the capital of the kingdom of Jijhoti, and Abu Rihan, who accompanied Mahmud of Ghazni in his expedition to 1021 mention the Kalinjar Kajuraha Jijhoti as capital.
chandeles was the capital of the Rajputs who ruled the region between X and XII century the verse and then called and Khajjuravahaka Khajurapuraor Khajjinpura. The temples were built between the mid-tenth century and half of the eleventh century. The entire area is walled with multiple doors that allow entry each (8) has two palm trees at the entrance. The reason for the erotic sculptures is not known: it is thought that education was to teach the younger kamasutra but there are other theories.
